Here is an some code from maps controller to add nodes using categories:

CategoryFactory.init(); CatFactory cf = CategoryFactory.getInstance(); String rule = cf.getEffectiveRule(categoryName); List<String> nodeIPs = FilterDaoFactory.getInstance().getIPList (rule); log.debug("ips found: "+nodeIPs.toString());

CategoryFactory is a class in org.opennms.netmgt.config packege FilterDaoFactory is a class in org.opennms.netmgt.filter

Using these classes will help you in getting the information you want.

In fact I want to know the category of a node in particular. I don't see a method to do this in org.opennms.web.map.db.Element.

Go here: http://www.opennms.org/documentation/java-apidocs-stable/

There is a method getCategories in org.opennms. web.map.view.Manager class that you can use.

Hi,

I want to write a file like map/response/ping.jsp in order to print categories of a node. Does a function exist to get node's categories ?

Regards,
