Courier is also my POP3. I am not aware of another pop3 daemon which
supports Maildir-style direcotories which is why I am using Courier-Imap
(and its included pop3 daemon).

When I look at /var/log/maillog I only see IPs. A bit of clarification
The client can connect, but it takes an inordinate amount of time to
transfer the data, but it is transfering data. For example when the imap
client is connected to the server and I select a message to view the
transfer begins immediately, the progress bar moves, it just takes forever.

message on the outside chance the mail was corrupt and still have no
success. ipchains has been disabled on the server.
I would appreciate any and all help regarding this matter. I am really
stumped because even when I test IMAP via a microsoft client the server
performs dismally as well. Taking an EXTREMELY inordinate amount of
transfer the message (which usually times out and failts).
Currently maxdaemons is set to 100 and maxrip is set to 20.
Try turning off reverse dns lookups. Is Courier your pop3 as well?
