Thanks for the report. I will look into the problem.

Normally the `ncr' should only attach 810 and 825 non-A in releng_4. This works since old-PCI code based driver as `ncr' returned a priority of -1000 to the new-bus code on successful `probe', and `sym' returned -2000 for the 810 and 825 non-A but returned 0 for later chips.

Given your report, it seems that both the `ncr' driver and the trick that allowed `sym' to attach the SYM53C876 have been broken in the snapshot.

I will check that ASAP and let know freebsd-gnats-submit about. :-)

Gérard.

FreeBSD 4.1-STABLE #0: Mon Sep 11 06:45:40 PDT 2000 ro@baz.difsil.net:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/BAZA i386

Description:

4.1 release installs sym driver(s) for symbios 22801 HAB (dual 875 chip) without
problem. 4.1 snapshots, since late august, install ncr driver and system halts after
'scsi reset waiting 15 secs'.

How-To-Repeat: install 4.1 snapshot kern/mks.flp from ~aug 25 thru sep 10 Fix:

work-around: install 4.1 release. cvsup to latest snapshot (9-10-00) does not change the sym scsi driver to ncr driver. system updates correctly; make world/kernel successful
