In the bad old days of pop3, I had numerous filtering/sorting rules in place to sort my messages as they came down. I hope I never have to do it that way again.

Bad old days? What ISP do you have that doesn't use POP3 email? I have yet to find an ISP for any home user that uses anything but POP3. I only see IMAP in large companies like the one I work for. It would seem to me that pop3 is still very much alive and the choice of all ISPs I know....although I am not sure why.

It's always a long day, 86400 doesn't fit into a short

Just curious (and forgive me if this is one of those holy war kind of questions - I don't mean to be flame-bait). Is there a reason this is a mailing list instead of a newsgroup?

(Getting 3+ digests per day (unthreaded) is kind of cumbersome and doesn't seem like the most efficient system....) I just joined the digest list a week or so ago, and it's been very useful, but a bit awkward to read through. Many BSD releated newsgroups get significantly less message volume than this list.
