Hi, Ron!

Can anyone provide feedback on how well Jam tracks file dependencies (in comparison to makedepend)? or any other comparisons to Imake and configure.

=o= I've never seen Jam miss a file dependency, though I've had similar success with makedepend. The main difference in my mind is that makedepend is coupled with C/C++, whereas Jam can be configured to deal with other languages.

=o= Comparison with Imake: Jam is much, much faster, and much, much, much easier to develop and maintain files with.

=o= Comparison with configure: I think configure is really great from the customer's end of things, but I don't know what it's like to develop or maintain. I do note that the GNU folks were able to rapidly get it pretty stable for a bunch of different products, but they tend to be megagurus. <_Jym_>
