hi ropu,
quite understand - no worries (although you can't blame a man for trying ;-)).
meanwhile, just had a look inside the CheckoutAPIFunctions.php code from the second solution linked above. unfortunately, i'm no coder (!) but there are a ton of references to tax, only i don't see anywhere obvious that states "true/false" or an actual amount, i.e. "0" or "17.5" etc.
just frustrating to think the answer might well be found in a basic code change within what i'm already working with - only i clearly have no idea ..?! x-(((
ps also a shame there seems no-one else out there that's chimed into this discussion as yet - are you from google or simply a kind-hearted fellow ecommerce-coder veteran ..?? ;-)
cheers ..

Hi, as soon as i have some free time i'll have a look to it, but im really inside the dev of the OSC v1.4, and the soonest release.
understand that right now im short in time, and v1.4 release is priority one

hi ropu,
understand the issue re regular checkout flow, although at time of writing, it's the nearest we CRE folk had to a working module to use GC .. x-(
that said, .. i've just managed to implement this approch, which i believe *does* comply with GC TOS:
(above links to end of thread, so best re-read from the top of this page, rather than the very start)
however, it results in the exact same "£0" VAT when you reach google (whilst everything else looks dandy).
as such, and hence my previous post, it really does seem to me it's less to do with the implementation of the CRE modules themselves and something more to do with how GC is setting the VAT rating itself, surely ..?
end of the day, just can't help but feel it *must* be a simple fix to get either of these two appoaches working fully, i.e. "inc VAT" for UK customers ..?
again, any thoughts/quick help would be incredibly appreciated ..?! x-)
cheers ..

hi, i've took a fast view to the code, and the truth is that is
pretty
old.
in fact is using old sandbox url :S
tax table selector is a little hardcoded...
u may want to have a look to the includes/modules/payment/google.php class, in the unction gen_shopping_cart($orders_id) method.
an other thing i saw is that is part of the regular checkout flow of CRE, so doesnt comply with GC TOS. :S
so i cannt give more support to that implementation, sorry...

hi,
been thinking about my own issue with Google Checkout working BUT not adding/including UK VAT/tax in the final page - and the following occurred to me ..
- it makes no difference whether you show tx or not in your own cart - the google checkout page clearly states "includes VAT £0.00"
as such, surely must conclude one of two things:
- GC is taking the amount from the wrong place in your cart/shop - GC is deciding your customer is exempt (i.e. outside any given tax zone) - GC has the wrong setting for standard tax
with the above in mind, is there anywhere in google checkout preferences etc to set the rate of applicable tax ..?
otherwise, really would appreciate any thoughts or tips based on the above, as i've now had to disable GC until this single/simple matter is sorted.
ps have posted this in another thread too, as there seems to be several covering the same issue - yet still no conclusion .. x-(
cheers ..

i can commit any time to look to the code right now, not at

next
week,
im finishing osc v1.4
but u can still send me the links of the contrib..
the truth is that i didnt have time to look at the CRE code
either...
right
now is in second priority, but is in the list...

help me - yes please ..! ;-)
seriously, what do you need etc ..?
as for this being "old", it kinda is ;-). still, don't
really
see
how
that should be a worry - since the actual handshake is
happening,
just
google is extracting the value from the wrong place
..? also,
like
to
believe such a single issue couldn't be that complicated -
at
least
in
theory, for those with any idea of how these things tend to
be
coded
etc (i live a dream-like existence, as you can see ;-).
ps is there any way to set up notification of replies to
this
thread
-
don't seem to be getting any and would be really handy ..?
cheers ..

URL....

hi ropu,
thanks for that - you're clearly the guy who can (having
just
been
reading several of your other tips on here ;-).
in the meantime, i've already installed the only
"official"
CRE
module
for GC - and just don't see why it's not picking up the
full
amount
(it's as if it's taking the wrong value, i.e. before
tax). is
there
anything you can think of for me to check/tweak for a
rough
fix
for
now at least ..??
cheers ..

we have just sent our store live @ www.nodecks.comusingCRELoaded's Google Checkout contribution (searched high and low
for
one
with
full
sync with google's guidelines etc, to no avail).
in any case, immediately noticed that GC isn't
including
ANY
amount
for tax once you get through to their checkout.
obviously
pretty
crucial to fix this - anyone any similar experience
or
ideas
..???
also, have recently seen certain changes posted
elsewhere
relating
to
UK stores (e.g. how GC handles taxes + shipping
outside
the
US)
and
also new tags required handle/deliver digital
sales. since
the
CRE
module for GC support doesn't appear to have been
updated
for some
time, just wonder if this is something i should be
concerned
about
and/
or be able to easily fix via file modifications
myself
..?
cheers ..
