I have tested your program and it works fine with me.

I debugged it in gdb and did not get a single warning from gdb 5.0.

It looks like a problem in FreeBSD, and your version of FreeBSD has many patches issued !!!

On an unrelated issue, you also have that while(1) loop which is totally unnecessary.
