How does all this stuff below, which is phrased in very broad and sweeping
terms, apply *specifically* and *concretely* to MySQL?
Well, the reality is that it doesn't apply at all.
While Mr. Wagner made a valiant attempt at explaining the nuances of .NET,
there really isn't a compelling reason (even one) to move all MySQL
development into .NET. While .NET does promise to be the future of Win32
development, that will not make other languages and other programs obselete.
I continue to use MySQL, Oracle and SQL Server with .NET in much of the same
manner that I did with VB 6 and other pre-.NET languages - there's really no
need to move _everything_ into .NET
