i just subscribed to this list so at first i'm gonna introduce myself to you (i think that would be polite) ;-) My name ist Thorsten Müller and live near Frankfurt in Germany. I'm 25 years old.

My problem is the following: I'm trying to install a Postfix,Courier-IMAP, Maildrop, mySQL system on my newly installied Debian 3 box. I used the fine howto by Serge Stepanov (http://www.gfxcafe.com/Mail%20Howto.htm).

As described in this document i tried to compile all the required packages my myself. But i ran into problems with the ssl libraries (and a few other conflicts with installed packages from the Debian packagesystem).

After this failed i installed the system completely new and tried to work as far as possible with the packages that come with the Debian distribution.

Trying to get Maildrop working with mySQL failed. After a little bit of googl'ing i found out, that the default Maildrop Debian package doesn't come with mySQL support. maildrop -v doesn't show anything about mySQL support :-(

So i decided to remove the Debian Maildrop package and to compile it by myself.

I tried it with ./configure \ --prefix=/usr/lib/courier \ --enable-maildropmysql \ --with-mysqlconfig=/etc/courier/maildropmysql.config \ --enable-maildrop-uid=1004 \ --enable-maildrop-gid=1004

But this failed (see output at the end of the mail).

I appended some system output which might be helpful.

I would be thankful for any hint.
