I can't help there, as mine worked out of the box, once I built and installed couriertls to the right area.

That's because couriertls was not installed :)

I ran into this myself today.

cd into the tcpd directory, type 'make couriertls', then copy the binary to /usr/lib/courier-imap/bin and try again. (I think it was bin...)
