Hi,

I was looking at how to figure out how many emails my courier server handles. I rotate logs daily, and recently deployed a specialized email firewall/gateway appliance in front of the courier box. I wanted to know if there has been any reduction in the mail traffic since then.

I figured if I count the no. of log entries with "newmsg" in them should give an approximate idea of the amount of email traffic. Is that correct? What are the best metrics to be had from the courier logs that I could use to present pre- and post- appliance deployment mail traffic patterns?

Thanks,

Binand
