good. getting closer. seems like i tried that already, but guess i missed the right combination ;>

the problem now is that i need to know where i can specify the password that is needed to log in to the IMAP server for that virtual user?? otherwise pine just has failed logins, of course.

thanks!

My bad. Little bit 'o confusion... I want to set up Pine to connect as an IMAP client. I should not have included my maildir info, cuz that is irrelevant. What I could find online didn't give me enough info to be able to set up pine to login to my imap server for a virtual domain/user. Anyone know where to find such info?

Less than trivial with Pine, that. You'll need to add some incoming folders first, e.g:

incoming-folders=VirtualAccountName {host-name/user="vusername"}INBOX

Then, you'll want to use Rules | Roles to set the sender properly:

pattern-roles=LIT:pattern="/vaccoutname-role/FLDTYPE=SPEC/FOLDER=VirtualAccountName"

action="/ROLE=1/FROM=User Name <user@virtdomain>/RTYPE=YES/FTYPE=YES/CTYPE=NO

All on one line. Either edit your .pinerc file or set it up from the main configuration screen.

You'll probably want to put the virtual account addresses into alt-addresses as well.
