Hi,
I am experiencing a quite irritating problem with netscape and courier
imap. There is some sort of bug in one or the other that doesn't allow
you to connect to INBOX at all if you have interval mail checking
enabled and the interval checking happens before you manually open your
INBOX. When it gets into this state, it does not prevent opening folders
that are subfolders of INBOX, just the main INBOX. Has anybody else
experienced this problem? The only way I have found to connect to the
INBOX is to close all instances of netscape, open it again, and connect
to the INBOX before the auto mail checking interval occurs.
Check to see how many concurrent connections are open at that time. The
default imapd configuration settings allow a maximum of four concurrent
connections from the same IP address - this is set in the configuration
file. I don't see how that is a factor, four should be plenty. I've
never really seen Communicator open more than two simultaneous
connections, and the extra connection from the checking process makes it
three.
I have my concurrent connections set to 40 from the same ip address. I
watched and seen that there was only one connection open from my client.
I don't understand why it only happens if the auto checker checks the
mail before you press the Get Msg button.
