To get these functions to work, you have to compile PHP with --with-imap. That requires the c-client library to be installed. Grab the latest version from ftp://ftp.cac.washington.edu/imap/ and compile it. Then copy c-client/c-client.a to /usr/local/lib/libc-client.a or some other directory on your link path and copy c-client/rfc822.h, mail.h and linkage.h to /usr/local/include or some other directory in your include path.
READMEs, INSTALLs, and the like are your friends. Kneejerk reactions will always end up in trouble!

Ok,
I installed this software just so I can get my POP3 webmail client working!! yes i know this sounds stupid but every single freakin webmail client in the world requires that php be compiled with imap support. Ok fine, so i try compiling php with imap support (even though i wont be using the imap features). It errors out says It cant find the imap includes so i have to install an imap server. Ok. I run Vpopmail so i decided to pick this package, I install it and everything, try the php stuff again and poof, same results, cannot find your IMAP include so please double check your imap installation...
What is going on here? Why wont PHP find the stupid includes file? what directory should i specifiy -- everyting is going in /usr/lib/courier....
can anyone help me?
