I whatched to the courier source code, in
courier-0.45.6/courier/module.esmtp/esmtpclient.c at line 2199 I found:
esmtpclient.c has nothing to do with relaying. This is the ESMTP client,
not the server.
Yes, sorry, I'm stupid! The problem is still there!

This mail ends without \r\n (a bug of thunderbird 0.5?). Courier takes
this mail for relying but it doesn't add \r\n before ".\r\n".
Yes, it does. When Courier receives the message it will append the newline
before placing the message in its internal mail queue.
Try finding this message in the mail queue directory; you will see that it
has a trailing newline; the trailing terminator will be correctly provided
when the message is subsequently sent.
This is the workaround I use to force courier to send deferred messages!
I find deferred messages in /usr/lib/courier/var with, but I have to add a
newline by hand and flush the queue with 'courier flush' to make it work!
It seems my courier doesn't add the newline with mozilla-thunderbird 0.5
messages! What's going on? I'm going to upgrade all my mail clients.
