Then you forgot to do something else. Just moving the files does not magically result in the server knowing the mailboxes' new location. You have to do something else to reconfigure the server to know where mail is to be delivered, from now on.

This is only a problem if the system clock gets reset. As long as the whole process takes more than a single second, there is no issue.
