I'm having a problem with the MX error:
"|MX records for $domain violate section 3.3.9 of RFC 1035"
Problem being that I have already changed the MX record (check
belminfernandez.com) but it seems to be cached.
1) This shouldn't matter because I changed 'esmtpdroutes' file to have:
belminfernandez.com: [192.168.3.1]
AND I tried:
belminfernandez.com: mail.belminfernandez.com
Any suggestions for how to work around this problem? How do I clear the
cache so it could get the updated MX route OR how do I fix it so
'esmtproutes' works. That is the correct file name right? I attempted
testmxlookup these are the results despite the MX record change and the
'esmtpdroutes' entry:
[root@belminfernandez bin]# ./testmxlookup belminfernandez.com
Domain belminfernandez.com:
Relay: ::ffff:66.65.49.241, Priority: 20, Address: ::ffff:66.65.49.241 [
ERROR ]
2) Again, it shouldn't matter because this is the host in the 'me' file
and this is a local address. Isn't that the way it should be configured
for local address (the one the server runs of)? I attempted different
combos of 'hosteddomains' entry and 'locals' and still received the same
error. Any suggestions here?
3) Last but not least, the weirdest part about this is that the mail
attempted to be sent through the SMTP server that is getting this error
isn't even addressed to an email at @belminfernandez.com. The
From/ReplyTo address is an @belminfernandez.com. Is this some sort of
check I could disable. I tried disabling some BOFH* values in the
'esmtpd' file. How should I have these settings set?
Thanks for any help you guys can offer!
PS: Just in case, of course I tried restarting after every (even ones
that didn't call for) change in files/settings :-/
