We are switching to Courier, after using Qmail + Vmailmgr for nearly 4 years.
Why?
Courier has almost the entire feature-set right out of the box.
We wrote and published a simple patch to authmoduser.c to allow IP-based Virtual
domains;
and have nearly finished our MySQL powered Domain/Account/Aliases PHP4
Mananagement
toolset ... so, we feel that the entire collection of needs will be met
for just over 35 domains with 1500+ users.
Moreover, Courier's native support for IMAP & POP3 (plain and SSL) are big
added bonus points, along with Web E-Mail client (and a great third party
client called SquirrelMail).
Finally, Courier is an 'active' project. Qmail has not been upgraded for
years...now only enhanced by un-supported add-on patches and enhancements.
And, of course, Sam is creative, courteous and receptive to good ideas.

Hello,
I'm setting up a brand new mail server on linux, I'm going to be using it for
internal and hosting e-mail account, a few thousand
eventually, just a few hundred now.
I'm wondering if I should go with Qmail base and Vpopmail/Courier IMAP on top or
just go with the full blown Courier-mta package.
How is the full courier-mta at handleing Virtual domains and administration for
virtual domains?
Anyone have any comments? I've setup a server using Qmail, Vpopmail, and Courier
IMAP and had good results with it.
Thanks,
