I agree with Nat.
It would not make sense to go back a version.
Bob Morgan has pointed out that having $ in the authority segment may cause problems for some XML parsers, echoing Dave Orchards comments.
We could choose to convert to the new relative XRI format. <XRD version="3.0" xmlns="http://xri.net/$xrd*($v*3.0)">
We had a discussion last Friday on $ words in syntax and if there meaning is local to the protocol that is using the XRI as the above uses XDI versioning syntax.
Before we consider the above, we need to have a clear understanding of what $ words mean to a XRI resolver, Is the above simply a two subsegment XRI with $xrd as the first subsegment and *($v*3.0) as the second? In the proposed change for GCS delimiters is this changing to a thee subsegment XRI $xrd , $v , and *3.0 ?
We need to move faster on XRD at least than it may take us to be 100% on those issues and what exactly a XRD for a namespace should contain.
I am prone to caution at the moment and am leaning towards a simple namespace like
<XRD version="3.0" xmlns="http://oasis-open.org/xri/xrd/3.0">
Yes the former may have advantages once everything is sorted but I don't want XRD to be held up by XRI syntax and resolution.

Hi.
Let me supplement another point that was discussed during the F2F Friday on the XRD version number.
Currently, XRD appears in the XML as:
<XRD version="2.0" xmlns="xri://$xrd*($v*2.0)">
I made a point that it probably would not make sense to revert this version to 1.0 so that it will appear like
<XRD version="1.0" xmlns="http://oasis-open.org/xri/xrd/1.0">

***IMPORTANT: NOTE THE NEW TIME OF THIS CALL***
Following is the agenda for the unofficial telecon of the XRI TC at:
Date: Thursday, 20 November 2008 USA Time: 2:00PM - 3:00PM Pacific Time (22:00-23:00 UTC)
TO ACCESS THE AUDIO CONFERENCE: Dial In Number: 571-434-5750 Conference ID: 5474
AGENDA
1) INTRODUCTIONS
We have some new TC members joining us for the first time.
2) EXPANDING TC MEMBERSHIP
The input about the new XRD spec has led to a surge of interest in TC membership by open community standards participants who have not been part of OASIS before. Drummond and John will report on the outreach efforts.
3) SUMMARY OF IIW AND F2F MEETING
Via reference to the minutes posted today, we'll review the highlights of the XRD sessions at IIW and the intense two days of the F2F.
http://wiki.oasis-open.org/xri/FaceToFaceAgenda
4) REVISED WIKI HOME PAGE AND SPEC HOME PAGES
Drummond has updated the wiki home page to provide quick links to home pages for managing each deliverables in this spec cycle. By call time tomorrow he'll fill in at least one example (but each spec editor team should manage their own spec home page).
5) JIRA FOR ISSUES MANAGEMENT
OASIS just announced it has added Jira issue tracking. We'll discuss using it for this spec cycle.
6) VERSION NUMBER FOR XRD SPEC
One open issue we should close on this call is the version number for the new XRD spec. In last Thursday's discussion the preference was XRD 1.0 (it being a new spec). In Friday's discussion (with a different set of participants) the preference was for XRD 3.0 (to align it with XRI 3.0 and reflect that it is a third-generation design).
7) NEXT CALL(S)
No call is currently planned for next week (Thanksgiving in the U.S.) We should also discuss whether we should hold two separate calls each week - one on XRD and one on XRI.
