I think the JNA documentation is not lacking at all. The Javadoc is pretty extensive and the getting started and samples are nice addition to it.

It took me just a few hours to write an interface to the Lego Mindstorm Fantom API... without previous knowledge of JNA and without previous knowledge of the said API. And I did not hit any major snags.

Of course, the samples are pretty simple and do not include examples for every situations. They can be improved on, but I don't believe this is the responsibility of only the JNA developers, but also of the whole JNA community.
