We have both from oracle as mr smith. On Aug 17, 2012 11:09 PM, "Milton Smith" <milt...@oracle.com> wrote:
Hello Everyone,
To introduce myself... I have over 20+ years of industry experience with emphasis in the last 7 on computer security. At my previous employer, Yahoo, I ran the security program for their User Data Analytics(UDA) property as well as some internal application support functions like grid operations, mobile, and video. My purview is Java security for the product family from requirements definition to communications. I am busy meeting people and also thinking about security goals for Java. If you have thoughts feel free to share them.
Regards, Milton Smith

All,
I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce Milton Smith, who has
joined the Java SE PM team with the specific focus area of Java Security (which includes not only dev features, but the deployment and runtime side and related policies). Milton comes with a solid history of security experience ranging from startups through to enterprise end users and through to high end web/cloud.
Milton, I'd like to introduce you to the JUGS and related Champions
list. These are passionate lists with passionate people who are not afraid to tell us how they'd like things done. It's an invaluable resource to use carefully.
Milton, see below - I think it would be useful within the next couple
weeks to perhaps outline some of the benefits, challenges and goals of doing silent updates in the Java context (i.e., enterprise end users versus home end users versus server deployments), and bounce to this group for some feedback.

I agree with Hildeberto that it is important to crack this problem. However I fail to see how it is so hard .. Google Chrome and Firefox are showing nicely how to do:
Release regularly - update automatically with no user intervention, just do it - make it hard for the user to stick to an old version
