Thanks, but that does not preserve the read flag, which is the main reason to look for a tool. Otherwise I would be able to just copy directories. (The filenames still will not be in maildir format, but courier can cope with that).

Perhaps we could help more if we knew exactly what you're converting from, and what makes it not-quite maildir compatible...

Cyrus IMAP, so the messages are seperate files in separate directories, but the meta information is recorded in a database instead of encoded in the filename.
