I have been running Courier IMAP very successfully as a *user* (i.e. no root access) on my shell account here for quite a while.

It would be useful if I can merge other mail into the Courier IMAP maildir folders. Will it cause any problems if I, for example, use getmail to fetch mail from various POP3 servers and drop it into Courier's maildir folders?

I know I will have to give the folders appropriate names, they must start with a period and are all at one level. I can manage this OK but will Courier be worried by files that it didn't put there?
