I've thought about kicking out my celeron 600 and get a new amd64 system (Asus A8V) - AGP because I want to reuse my old G400DH. I know that the binary drivers matrox supplies are only fuer i386... but did someone took the source and tried to compile it with xorg/xfree and amd64? Did it work?
AFAIK you have to use the mga_hal driver in order to support DVI, at least, I did with my card. Matrox doesn't seem to provide any 64 bit version of the mga_hal, so you can forget it. I had to switch to a cheap AVI card to use my TFT in 64-bit mode. There doesn't seem to be any source available for the mga_hal.
If not.. any suggestion for a new graphic card which gives me the opportunity to connect two CRT monitors to it (no DVI) and is supported by xorg (xinerama)?
Don't know about xinerama. I'm only using one screen.
