I tried it along David Megginson's book 'Structuring XML Documents' using nsgmls and it works. I don't want to argue whether there are some bugs left or not. IIRC, a Python based implementation exits, too -- maybe, imcomplete (I didn't check since nsgmls worked).
Someone will mention shortly how HyTime will solve everything.
Feel free to ignore it (and use XLink, the reinvented wheel) ;)
