I'm using authdaemon with authuserdb. I've got virtual users, so I have userdb entries like this:

joe.@someplace.net home=/home/vmail|mail=/home/vmail/someplace.net/joe.schmoe|systempw=$1$4NRTXcFc$P5b2WEwxQ2azpoZm1COT.|gid=105|uid=105

Is there any way to use userdb and get maildrop-like (or at least "xfilter"-like) functionality ran on the inbound mail ?

Yes. Create accounts that look like normal accounts. Specify only the home directory in userdb, with its mail held in $HOME/Maildir.
