Hi,
I'm running an OpenBSD 2.8 (STABLE) system on a I386 platform. I recently
installed courier 1.1 form the ports with qmail 1.0.3. I had modified the
imapd.conf to delete to the trash (lucky me!!) and set the expunge time to 40
days. I don't use quotas and do not have maildirquotas installed.
My problem is this: When I open the IMAP folder remotely with Outlook 2000,
Outlook express, Netscape 4.76 for Linux, Netscape 6.01 for Linux, or mutt and
then close the folder, all messages older than an hour are marked deleted and
expunged. I lost some mail before I realized what was happening and got some of
it back from the trash bin.
I shut down the server and backed up the remainder of mail and ran some tests.
It seems I don't even need to open the directory remotely: just log in locally
with mutt (not using IMAP) and you can watch the messages getting deleted. The
best I can think of is that there some of message pruning going on.
Only I can't locate where this pruning behavior is occurring from :<
Any thoughts or pointers appreciated!
