I don't know anything about Slackware, I'm afraid. It looks as if the cc compiler can't cope. Personally I think you'd do best to download source code from the www.courier-mta.org site, anyway.

I doubt it, because the Buffer.C code is slightly different even as recently as maildrop 1.7. And maildrop 2.0 needs recent courier-authlib to be installed before it will build.

Do you recommend me to use postfix rather than qmail ? Isn't qmail better than postfix ? I installed the qmail from the guide from qmailrocks.

It's up to you which MTA you choose, using functionality, configurability and quality of support as a yardstick. That's the basis on which I chose Postfix after years of Exim and haven't regretted it yet.
