Installing Courier Mail on FreeBSD HOWTO? Where is documentation for installing courier mail on freebsd? Is there any?

Removing Sendmail? What needs to be done to "remove" sendmail sufficiently so that courier mail will work with FreeBSD (4.7)?

thats what mailwrapper is for, see mailwrapper (8) and edit /etc/mail/mailer.conf accordingly.

I'm not quite sure how to ensure that sendmail is turned off or "removed" completely. I've set 'sendmail_enable="NO"' in /etc/rc.conf. During booting I get the following error messages relating to sendmail/courier mail.

this wont disable sendmail. Read the comments in /etc/defaults/rc.conf

/var/spool/courier/tmp/courierfilter.pid: Permission denied authdaemond /var/spool/courier/tmp/ldapaliasd.lock: Permission denied ll_daemon_start: Resource temporarily unavailable courierd

Your installation looks heavy messed up. Follow the instructions in the install.html, and install without the port. Make shure to disable ipv6 and all unused authmodules.
