Hi, I was wondering which disk controlers supported > 8.4GB hard drives. I have a 12GB Quantum and would like to use it with FreeBSD. Do I need to purchase a controler card or can freebsd handle 12GB eide drives without any specific hardware ?

Yuck. I hate to see the performance numbers on this drive :( I'd use a 3x4GB array myself.

In response to your question, any LBA/EIDE controller should drive it. You'll need to use FreeBSD-CURRENT (and maybe stable) to get the LBA patches so you can acces the entire disk -- otherwise you're limited to 8GB.
