This was supposed to be a hint to you, not to me. I don't give a tinker's cuss about MySQL and maildrop combined, I'm an Openldap person. All works perfectly for me with LDAP.

However, in my /usr/local/mysql directory (self-compiled 4.0.20, strictly for the plebs - only for dspam and gld), I get 1,000+ hits if I do 'grep -r ELF *'. Your maildrop is possibly trying to access some library within your MySQL environment and can't. It segfaults, anyway ;)
