It needs new interface module. Somebody have to combine CAM API smartmontools interface module used for SCSI devices and ATA SMART commands.
So you mean it should practically be the same as existing ATA module, but

Yes.
Thinking out loud - maybe it's possible to support IOCATAREQUEST on ada devices and internally convert it to appropriate CAM command.
