The “maildirpath” setting in your LDAP record overrides DEFAULTDELIVERY.

To use maildrop you must create your accounts in the same way regular system accounts are set up: something that resembles a separate home directory for each account, and a Maildir subdirectory.

Sticking the same “homedirectory” in every LDAP record, is not going to work.

That having been said, LDAP-based maildrop >= 1.6.3 works perfectly well with a virtual uid[nr]:gid[nr] and, for example, Courier IMAP. There's no need to have a home directory at all, if the users are virtual.
