The only examples I have that use subdirectories and subprojects works fine for me -- which isn't helpful for you except that it shows it should work for you as well.
Speculating wildly: are you using Gant 1.1.2? If so, you might like to move to 1.2.0-SNAPSHOT since it may be that the problem is already solved there.
Yes, I did get the snapshot.
1.2.0-SNAPSHOT gets updated from time to time, but I put a note on the mailing list -- it is effectively a continuous release candidate.
Ok, well I had moved my multi-tiered project back to ant again, so I have no further info for you :(. I am this time going to use a greenfield temporary project to fully understand and provide you better feedback.
