Hunh. I can download reports, today! Maybe I was drunk, before ... :)
See ... my guess is that it's not my setup ... it's problems with and the changing face of the API authorization mechanism and perhaps how it hooks up with the AdWords authorization mechanism.
Programming doesn't change all by itself, overnight. They're working on it, and there are some issues with the current state of the beta program (to be expected) on the Google side.
When one (1) follows the simple instructions to sign up for the program, (2) downloads the demo files to a qualified server, (3) makes the minor authorization changes to the demo and (4) fails to see the demo work properly; either the demo itself is broken (which the PERL one was) or there is a problem with the way the internal system is handling the instructions in the demo. Probably the system has changed since the demos were published. Nonetheless, there is evidence that the front end docs (such as they are) and demos are not keeping up with the back end changes.
I believe the report download problem is connected to the changes currently underway with the whole authorization system, and had nothing to do with me or my accounts.
