I have a courier server behind a campus firewall and there are several other mail servers (non courier) in the network. A sendmail mail-relay is the only permitted smtp port outbound.

Courier can send mail within the campuse and recieve mails from everywhere (internal and external) but it can not deliver to external addresses.

The failure notice is: Connection refused

the mail relay has the following entry:

Aug 23 10:38:08 mail-relay sendmail[11401]: STARTTLS=client, relay=mycourier.domain.com , version=TLSv1/SSLv3, verify=FAIL, cipher=DES-CBC3-SHA, bits=168/168

I created the esmtproutes and even the esmtpauthclient files with the address of the mail relay but neither helped.

What else should I do? Thanks.
