Hi Sam,

I enabled ESMTP_LOG_DIALOG=1 in etc/emsptd as a debugging aid.

I've done 2 complete "make install" and "make install-configure" into /usr/local/courier each time starting with an empty /usr/local/courier.

I'm not sure I understand your suggestion on building/install RPMs. What does that process do that "make install/install-configure" doesn't?

I would have loved to use "off the shelf" RPMs, but I couldn't locate any for RHEL4 x86_64.

Here's an excerpt from /var/log/maillog after sending a test msg from another host to "sol" (the courier host):

Nov 30 14:26:16 sol courieresmtpd: started,ip=[::ffff:192.5.10.1] Nov 30 14:26:16 sol courieresmtpd: EHLO dune.magnicomp.com Nov 30 14:26:16 sol courieresmtpd: STARTTLS

courieresmtpd does not normally log the raw SMTP conversation to syslog.

You must either be using a custom-hacked version of Courier, or it wasn't properly installed.

If I poke around /usr/local/courier/0.52.1 I find that the message is sitting under /usr/local/courier/0.52.1/var/tmp:

--------------------

System is Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 WS on an AMD64.

In that case you should be building and installing RPMs, as INSTALL tells you to do.
