Re bonsoir Yves,

Hi Frank.

I took a look around SQLite's site the other day. A couple of comments inline...

We're talking about a 2.0 time frame, and it's improbable that SQLite will have the features we're looking for until then ...

I do not question your evaluation, but please elaborate.

From the top of my head:

- a rather unusual type concept: http://www.sqlite.org/datatypes.html Note that I am not judging this concept here, I just say that it's unusual, and would require some effort to ensure that the rest of

OOo

The problem for OO.o would possibly be more in the way that SQLite allows the storage of any data type in any part of the table *regardless of the defined type for that field*.

- which is used to the stronger type system used in other databases - is not affected. It's simply a certain risk here. - no support for BLOBs (except in a way which requires additional effort on OOo side to implement it properly)

I'm assuming you are referring to the ability to store a BLOB in a text (or int) field. The latest version does boast support for BLOBs however...

- no support for ALTER TABLE

Not sure about that one...

However, I did notice an announcement on the Documentation list where someone announced that they had added a HOW-TO on using SQLite with OO.o. That might be worth checking out, as it could help supply a little more info for you (obviously the writer has had it working...).

I recommend you read the original http://fr.openoffice.org/Documentation/How-to/Bdd/08SQLite.pdf by Yves Chafour and the translation http://documentation.openoffice.org/HOW_TO/data_source/SQLite.pdf by me.

And yes I have it working.

Ciao Frank

Bonsoir,
