I took a look at the code, and it seems like this wouldn't be so hard to add. GetDataDirectory() is already defined for all browsers, it'd just be matter of writing a JavaScript-exposed function around it in the same manner as open(), execute(), etc. How would I go about contributing this? The ContributingToGears wiki talks about bug fixing, but not feature adds. Or are they the same thing for practical purposes?

I can understand an app wanting to show the path, for like an FAQ or something. Maybe you can link to the Gears FAQ? We'll keep this up to date.

Also, note that there's no guarantee that we won't move the files at some point.

Why do you need to display the db location to users?
