Subject:[courier-users] Courier-IMAP 2.0 Authentication problemActions...

Hi: I have been running Courier-IMAP 1.4 on RedHat Linus 7.2 with LDAP authentication for some time. Since Courier-IMAP 2.0 is now available I decided to upgrade. I built a Courier-IMAP 2.0 system on a new Dell PC running RedHat 9, with no errors indicated. I configured it as close as possible to be the same as my old system, but I can't LOGIN to it.

The /var/log/maillog file has entries like this:

Jul 28 10:40:19 venus imapd: Connection, ip=[142.xx.yy.zz] Jul 28 10:40:24 venus imapd: LOGIN: DEBUG: ip=[142.xx.yy.zz], command=LOGIN Jul 28 10:40:24 venus imapd: LOGIN: DEBUG: ip=[142.xx.yy.zz], username=wilton Jul 28 10:40:29 venus imapd: LOGIN FAILED, ip=[142.xx.yy.zz]

Looking at the LDAP logs, it appears to be binding successfully, but for some reason imapd says it failed. I tried connecting with pop3 and that succeeded. For client software I tried Mozilla 1.4 and also MS Outlook with no success on imap.

Any suggestions on what I might have done wrong, or how I can debug it, greatly appreciated.

Russ
