Sometimes ago i had problems like you, that because i changed a table's
spesification and database name (alter table and rename) while an application
which connect with that database was also running..then i shutdown mysql server
and restarting my computer, after that i can connect with mysql again.Perhaps
you only need to shutdown your mysql server then restart your computer if your
problem occured after you change a table spesification or changing your database
name, btw i would like to know exactly your problem and things happen before
that, perhaps i can help you further

using a script that has succesfully queried my database for two weeks, I now get an error message(built into my script) saying my database is unavailable.

When I try and access MySql from the command line prompt, the following results:

C:\mysql\bin>mysql ERROR 2003: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)

C:\mysql\bin>

Please help with this dilemma
