Chris,

Have you tried adding more than just modify permissions to the mysql directories? I would start by allowing full control permissions to the user to see if it works. If not, then permissions wouldn't be the problem, but if it does then you can start removing permissions to find out where it's breaking. You may need to do some tweaking with the advanced permissions (effective permission) as well to find out exactly what you need. If you happen to find out, please share it, it would be nice to know! Cheers.

Armando,

thanks for the reply. My Mysql user account does have rights to log on as a service. Is there anything else that might be preventing this?

Make sure that the user account you're using to run the MySQL service can logon as a service in your Local Security Policy (User Rights Assignment > Logon as a service). Cheers.

Hi all,

I decided to try my hand at running mysql as a service using a non-adminstrative or system user. I gave modify permsissions to the \mysql and subdirectories, and modify to \winnt\my.ini but I still get Error1067: The process terminated unexpectedly. I am running 4.0.18, so the previous bugs should not apply.

Has anyone else run into this? Is there something obvious I'm missing? Please help me out if you can.

Thanks, Corey
