Thanks for the testing. This bug is already known and there's a patch on this mailing list... unfortunately, nobody on this list has access to release the fix.

I just installed mysqlcc version 0.9.3-beta on a Windows 2000 Server machine.
1.) After install I accepted the default server setup of localhost, root, no password. 2.) I tried pressing the 'connect' button and got an application error message: The instruction at "0x39ee1141" referenced memory at "0x65532064". The memory could not be "read". 3.) I realized I'd not started MySQL server, and thought starting it might make a difference. I started mysqld.exe --console in a command prompt (DOS) window. 4.) The error from #2 still occured. 5.) I restarted mysqlcc again, and entered the proper root password for localhost (I had it blank before). 6.) I pressed the connect button again. This time the database connection worked! The available databases were shown, etc. 7.) As a further test, I went back to the edit screen, blanked out the root password, and pushed the "test" button in the lower left corner. Sure enough, I got the memory error from #2 above again. 8.) Next I tried restarting mysqlcc and entering an improper root password. The crash from #2 happened again.
So, it seems a bad root password crashes the application.
I notice every time the app crashes, there is another temporary connection record listed like "mysqlcctmp_2" then "mysqlcctmp_3", etc. This seems unexpected.
I've worked for years with SQL Server if you need any more specific testing I'd be happy to help as best as I can.
