Summary: VBD crashes Dom0 Product: Xen Version: unspecified Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: Unspecified AssignedTo: xen-@lists.xensource.com ReportedBy: skin@xs4all.nl

I created a benchmark setup using NFS storage and Virtual Disk Files. My memory is 8GB, my virtual disk files are 16GB.

In my DomU I mounted the virtual disks as 'more storage', hdb and hdc. My hda is an iSCSI lun. I use a plain file as large as 16GB, no qcow what so ever.

Using the tool bonnie++ in the configuration 10g I am able to crash the Dom0 which becomes totally unresponsive. When I run bonnie++ with 4g disk size option (using the same 16GB image) I don't have problems. I assume Xen tries to map the entire 'loopback' device to memory (the performance of 4g indicates such thing) and probably has memory starvation.

When I use an iSCSI lun to perform the same test. The system is has no problems.

Xen version 3.1.2
