Thanks, that is good info. I was running 2002 when I did the upgrade, so that explains that.

The 2003.1 server _doesn't_ fail when it can't find the files to copy.

It may be easier to copy the whole depot though. I have done this before, and I found that obliterate tries to copy in the depot files to a branch when you obliterate the main tree, and when it can't find those files to copy, it fails. This makes doing the obliterate very time consuming since you have to hunt around to obliterate the last branches first and work your way backwards. It is much easier to copy the entire depot so that you can just obliterate at the top level any directories you don't want.

Looking back through the archives, the general concensus seems to be checkpoint the original, replicate on the new server, then obliterate everything I don't want. While doable, it seems bulky. (I'm only moving about 2% of the tree). Anybody have a better idea?

It's the only sure way.

One thing though. The current server will "obliterate" depot files that aren't there. i.e. you only have to copy the checkpoint and the _relevant_ depot file trees. You don't have to copy the _entire_ depot before beginning your obliterate.

Paul.
