Hi Download the latest version 3.23.xx. The behaviour you describe has been reported before for some of the older versions, as far as i remember.
Regards Gert

Sirs,
I am about to test MySQL for Win32, under WinNT 4.0 WS, SP 6, german version. The MySQL Version I use is mysql-shareware-3.22.33. MySQL Server runs as a service on my system.
The following happened: within a database named something like "company", I tried to do a query on a table named "staff":
select * from staff where salary >= 3000 and salary <= 3500 order by salary desc;
After this query command, MySQL gives up, my DOS Window does not respond anymore and the cursor hangs. Trying to shut down MySQL server fails, until a reboot of the system.
Is it generally possible to sort a selected recordset by a descending order? Hoping not to bother You with an already known and reported bug or something else which I have only overseen, I am looking forward to Your soon reply.
Best regards N. Zudrell
