I have attempted to install on a couple machines in different configurations and now tried by wiping the drive, installing 2000 server fresh with defaults and installing mySQL on that. In each case when I attempt to start it it freezes the machine. Whether I start as sevice or as console, same effect. During the attempted start it creates the first logfile and then "crash." It installs and runs fine on an XP pro laptop. Is there a known compatibility issue with Server 2000?
