Dear MySQL users,

the MySQL Developer Tools team has released a new Beta build of the MySQL Workbench project.

MySQL Workbench is a next-generation visual database design application that can be used to efficiently design, manage and document database schemata. For more information about the MySQL Workbench project please visit the MySQL Workbench Developer Central site at

http://dev.mysql.com/workbench/

For screenshots please browse to http://dev.mysql.com/workbench/?page_id=35

The team has managed to fix about 70 bugs since the last release mid january. We added a new update feature that assists with downloading and installing the latest version. The Standard-Edition got another new module called "Catalog Diff Report" which allows to compare 2 catalogs taken from various sources and provides a text-report with the results.

For a detailed change log please browse to http://dev.mysql.com/workbench/?page_id=49

Please download the Community Edition Beta from http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/workbench/5.0.html

Standard Edition Beta Testing Program ------------------------------------- The response to our call for SE Beta testers has been amazing. But we can never have enough motivated people ready to contribute to the project. So if you are interested please drop an email to work@mysql.com with your contact information and we will add you to the testing program. There are no strings attached, only requirement is that you are really going to test the tool and can spend time reporting the bugs you find.

Enjoy!

Johannes
