Loren,

I recently purchased "Programming PHP" (O'Reilly Pub.) and "Professional PHP4 Web Development Solutions" (Wrox Pub.) after looking at the selection available from my excellent local software bookstore. I was already very familiar with SQL in general and MySQL in particular. My purpose was to get up to speed on PHP as rapidly as possible.

The O'Reilly book meets the usual high standards and documents the language thoroughly. One of the principal authors is Rasmus Lersdorf, creator of PHP.

The Wrox book also seems excellent. It contains a number of detailed case studies of PHP solutions to problems of real-world complexity.

Hope this helps.

HI

Before I just go out and buy, I wanted to get some opinions / advice on what you all think the best MySQL and PHP resource books are. I am not web design illiterate (have HTML and Perl experience), but I haven't the first clue about PHP and using MySQL with it. In other words, I am NOT looking for basic step by step books, but ones that have good, working examples, are formatted so to make finding things fairly simple, and also make note of Windows (IIS) specifics that I may need to know.

Thanks in advance to all who reply!
