I'm trying to install fbsd on MSA1000 via fibre from rx2620.

I see on console:

[skip] da2 at isp0 bus 0 target 0 lun 2 da2: <COMPAQ MSA1000 VOLUME 4.32> Fixed Direct Access SCSI-4 device da2: 200.000MB/s transfers da2: Command Queueing Enabled da2: 8283MB (16964640 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 1056C) da3 at isp0 bus 0 target 0 lun 3 da3: <COMPAQ MSA1000 VOLUME 4.32> Fixed Direct Access SCSI-4 device da3: 200.000MB/s transfers da3: Command Queueing Enabled da3: 125MB (257040 512 byte sectors: 64H 32S/T 125C) da0 at mpt0 bus 0 target 0 lun 0 da0: <SEAGATE ST318452LC 2213> Fixed Direct Access SCSI-3 device da0: 160.000MB/s transfers (80.000MHz, offset 63, 16bit) da0: Command Queueing Enabled da0: 17366MB (35566478 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 2213C) da1 at mpt0 bus 0 target 1 lun 0 da1: <SEAGATE ST318452LC 2213> Fixed Direct Access SCSI-3 device da1: 160.000MB/s transfers (80.000MHz, offset 63, 16bit) da1: Command Queueing Enabled da1: 17366MB (35566478 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 2213C) da4 at isp0 bus 0 target 0 lun 4 da4: <COMPAQ MSA1000 VOLUME 4.32> Fixed Direct Access SCSI-4 device da4: 200.000MB/s transfers da4: Command Queueing Enabled da4: 102398MB (209712510 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 13054C) da5 at isp0 bus 0 target 0 lun 5 da5: <COMPAQ MSA1000 VOLUME 4.32> Fixed Direct Access SCSI-4 device da5: 200.000MB/s transfers da5: Command Queueing Enabled da5: 20473MB (41929650 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 2610C) [skip]

da0 and da1 are local disks da2-da4 contain VMS data da5 is the new LUN on which I want to install fbsd.

The installation proceeds as normal until this message:

All filesystem information written successfully.

Then the system reboots

Perhaps this is not supposed to work anyway?

Also, I see that the network devices are em, no bge or fxp:

em0: <Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Connection 6.9.9> port 0x2240-0x227f mem
0x90320000-0x9033ffff,0x90280000-0x902fffff irq 29 at device 2.0 on pci32 em0: [FILTER] em0: Ethernet address: 00:13:21:5b:05:1c em1: <Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Connection 6.9.9> port 0x2200-0x223f mem
0x90300000-0x9031ffff irq 30 at device 2.1 on pci32 em1: [FILTER] em1: Ethernet address: 00:13:21:5b:05:1d

ok, the previous error was from 8.0 snapshot from Summer 2009.

with FreeBSD-8.0-STABLE-201002-ia64-disc1.iso I get to this stage:

Extracting base into / directory... | | +--------------------------------------------+ | | | | | | +--------------------------------------------+ | +----------------------100%----------------------+

81249280 bytes read from base dist, chunk 58 of 58 @ 1766.3 KBytes/sec.

and then get a reboot:

*********************************************************** * ROM Version : 04.29 * ROM Date : 11/30/2007 * BMC Version : 04.04 *********************************************************** 0 0 0x0015B2 0x0000000015708835 boot time event 1 0 0x0000A4 0x0000000000000000 start memory configuration [skip]

I'm not sure what would have been installed on disk by this stage, and whether I can hope to boot from it now.

Shall I also try 9.0 snapshot?

many thanks anton
